A Missouri man has been indicted for allegedly leaving a threatening message on the personal cellphone of Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer in May 2021, federal officials said.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced the indictment against 50-year-old Walter Lee Hoornstra of Tecumseh, Missouri on Wednesday.
The case is the second filed in the past month against people accused of threatening top election officials in the battleground state following former President Donald Trump's loss here.
A Massachusetts man was charged with threatening to blow up Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs in July.
