Recent rainfall has prompted a number of state and federal forests to ease fire restrictions in time for the Independence Day holiday weekend.
Much of the public lands in Pima, Cochise and Santa Cruz counties are no longer under fire restrictions, including the Coronado National Forest.
There are some exceptions to that, including Saguaro National Park, some Bureau of Land Management lands and Chiricahua National Monument.
Many areas of public land in counties to the north continue to have stage 1 or 2 fire restrictions though.
Public land officials encourage people to know the status of fire restrictions in an area before starting a fire, and say that Fireworks are always prohibited on federal and state trust lands regardless of fire restriction status.
A full list of restrictions is available at the Arizona Interagency Wildfire Prevention website, or by calling the Southwest Fire Restrictions Hotline at 1-877-864-6985.
