A wildfire in Santa Cruz County prompted evacuations Monday as winds pushed it across several thousand acres.
The fire was reported Monday morning near Elgin, about 55 miles southeast of Tucson.
Named the Elgin Bridge Fire, it had grown to 4,000 acres before 3 p.m. and prompted evacuations along Mustang Ranch Road.
The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management is coordinating the firefighting effort.
The department reported mid-afternoon that the fire was burning northeast through a heavy grass crop.
