MEXICO CITY - The United States secretaries of state and Homeland Security will visit Mexico starting Wednesday to meet with President Enrique Peña Nieto.
It will be the first visit to the country’s southern neighbor for Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly since their appointments. The visit will last two days, and on the agenda are border security, law enforcement and trade.
They’re set to meet with President Peña Nieto and other cabinet-level officials.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries are in a delicate state. Polls show that most Mexicans are wary of President Donald Trump’s future policies toward their country.
Many are calling on their leaders to cancel trade negotiations with the U.S. as long as Trump promises to build a wall and force Mexico to pay for it.
