Tucson Electric Power is warning its customers about a scam involving threats to shut off electricity at customer's homes.
“Our customers will get a call from an imposter who claims to be working for the company and says, ‘If you don’t purchase a money card and pay your overdue bill within an hour, we’re going to come shut off the power,'” said TEP's Joseph Barrios.
Barrios said TEP does not do business this way, and customers should not comply with the request.
If customers are concerned about the status of their electric service, they can call TEP's customer service line at (520) 623-7711.
Customers can also file a consumer complaint with the Arizona Attorney General's office by calling its Tucson office (520) 628-6504 or at its website.
