The University of Arizona will start interviewing candidates to fill the Provost position on March 17.

Co-Chairs of the Provost Search Committee Cindy Rankin and David Hahn announced the selection of four candidates for in-person interviews and events in a campus wide email Friday, March 7.

Ronald Marx was re-appointed as Interim Provost last fall, following Joseph Glover’s departure after just one month in the position. Marx previously served as Interim Provost after Leisl Folks stepped down at the end of 2023.

The job posting says the appointee, responsible for overseeing all academic programs, will need to be able to lead through a significant transitional period.

“The Provost will join the U of A at a crucial juncture in its history and must be prepared to lead the Office of the Provost in supporting the campus community as it navigates current and future challenges," the job profile reads.

The campus is adjusting to several new top leaders. President Suresh Garimella took over six months ago, and new Vice President for Research and Innovation Tomás Díaz de la Rubia began Nov. 1, 2024.

University officials said the candidates will meet with university groups and attend an in-person community forum during their interviews, however, their names and details will not be released until 24 to 48 hours before.

Interviews begin March 17 and wrap up on April 1.
